NORTHWEST INDEPENDENT SCHOOL DISTRICT Job Title: Part-Time Comp-Ed / At-Risk Tutor (0864) Reports to: Assigned Campus Administrator Wage/Hour Status: Non-Exempt Pay Grade: Hourly ($25 per hour) This position is funded by grant funds (State Comp Ed or Title I) Dept. /School: Assigned Campus Duty Days: Varies Based on Campus Need Date Revised: 02/2021 Primary Purpose: To guarantee the success of all students by providing specific and focused academic assistance to at-risk students, individual students or small groups of students working on individually prescribed learner objectives.
Qualifications: - High School Diploma or GED equivalent
- Strong content knowledge of the area of tutoring.
- Effective knowledge of learning theory.
Major Responsibilities and Duties: - Provide assistance to teachers and to students that have been identified as at-risk.
- Provides direct instruction to at-risk students identified as eligible for math, reading, and writing services in individual, and/or small group settings.
- Uses identified needs to guide the learning process toward at-risk student achievement of district's content standards.
- Establishes clear objectives for all lessons, units and projects using formal and informal assessment data obtained from students.
- Assist in maintaining at-risk working files on students; monitors student progress and provides input on student performance.
- Uses a variety of manipulative and hands-on activities to support content standards and the needs and capabilities of the individuals or student groups involved.
- Creates a learning environment and research-based program of study that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interests of the students.
- Takes all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
- Assists the administration in implementing all policies and rules governing student life and conduct, and, for the classroom, develops reasonable rules of behavior and procedure, and maintains order in a fair and just manner.
- Collaborates, as needed, with appropriate district/campus personnel regarding students who may need specialized interventions.

Supervisory Responsibilities: N/A
Working Conditions: Mental Demands/Physical Demands/Environmental Factors. Maintain emotional control under stress. Frequent and prolonged standing. Stooping, bending, pulling and pushing required.
Move small stacks of textbooks, media equipment, desks, and other classroom equipment and supplies.
