This position is responsible for overseeing all aquatics facilities, fitness center, and recreation activities for group and transient guests.

Job Duties (Duties marked with an asterisk are essential functions of this job):

  • Hire, train, schedule, evaluate, and develop staff to provide adequate coverage for all recreation functions and ensure that guest needs are met while maintaining a safe and fun atmosphere.*

  • Develop and execute special events, including themed weekends and group activities/services for Hershey Lodge transient guests and convention groups.*

  • Maintain safety/sanitation, cleanliness, and chemical levels in all swimming pools and Hershey Water Works.*

  • Manage the Fitness facility and maintain safety, health, and sanitation practices that meet guest expectations and property standards.*

  • Develop annual department budget, manage labor, maintain department checkbook, and monitor equipment and supplies inventory. *

  • Conduct and attend weekly / monthly department and property meetings.*

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Must be 18 years of age or older

  • Minimum 4 years of recreation experience. Previous lifeguard experience required 

  • Must have 4 years supervisory experience

  • Must have a valid Driver’s License

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Recreation Management or may substitute education requirement with at least 5 years of experience in Recreation

  • Jeff Ellis & Associates International Pool and Lifeguard Shallow Water program and Lifeguard Instructor Certification provided and paid for by the Hershey Entertainment & Resorts properties. 

  • Must obtain First Aid/CPR/AED certification through Jeff Ellis and Associates 

  • Aquatics Facility Operator Certification (AFO) and/or Certified Pool Operator Certifications (CPO) 

  • Pesticide Certification (category 24), preferred

  • This position is designated as Safety Sensitive and requires successful completion and passing of a pre-employment drug test.

  • Certification in Pesticide applications, Emergency Responder, and Certified Pool Operator a plus

  • In accordance with Pennsylvania's Child Protective Services Law, candidates must be able to obtain and maintain a report of criminal history from the Pennsylvania State Police (PSP), Child Abuse History Clearance from the Department of Human Services (Child Abuse), and Fingerprint-based federal criminal history submitted through the Pennsylvania State Police or its authorized agent (FBI), as a condition of continued employment.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Experience in pool maintenance

  • Working knowledge and familiarity of Aquatic Facility Pump Room

  • Proven employee/guest relations, problem solving, and organization skills

  • Proficient in the use of Google Suite and Microsoft Office applications including Excel and Word. Familiarity with computerized payroll systems

  • Professional image representative of company culture

  • Schedule will vary according to operational demands, but includes evenings, holidays, and weekends
