SALARY




 

The minimum salary is $$61,954.88 annually.
This position is not eligible for overtime (exempt); however, the city has a compensatory time leave program for employees that grants leave time for hours worked in excess of forty hours.

GENERAL DESCRIPTION




The purpose of this classification is to directly manage the activities of multiple work crews performing labor-related activities, grounds maintenance, and general park maintenance and repair of LFUCG facilities and parks.

This position oversees the daily operation of five of the nine maintenance districts in providing park services including snow removal, baseball field preparation, mowing, refuse collection, restroom cleaning and playground ground maintenance along with other small projects as assigned. Parks within these districts include Shillito, Jacobson, Veterans, Douglas, Coolavin, Dunbar, Castlewood and many others.



MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS





  • High school diploma, GED, or equivalent supplemented by, specialized courses/training that correlates to satisfactory completion of one (1) year of college education

  • Six (6) years of related experience, of which two (2) years must be in a supervisory or management capacity

  • Additional years of related education may substitute for years of experience

  • Additional years of related experience may substitute for years of education

 


  • Requires a valid driver's license to qualify



ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS





  • Supervises five park maintenance districts including all baseball and football fields, tennis and basketball courts and dog parks

  • Recruits, manages and evaluates the work of subordinates in response to on-going business operations, special assignments, and/or work orders; oversees and ensures optimal operations

  • Performs administrative duties related to goals, objectives and performance including, but not limited to, entering and approving work orders, preparing bids, and purchasing supplies as needed

  • Communicates with internal and external parties, as appropriate

  • Inspects completed work to ensure conformance to specifications and safety standards

  • Performs related work as assigned



SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS





  • Must be available for on-call duty and ability to work weekends and holidays as assigned and on emergencies.
