Senior Electrical Engineer – Energy & Power Solutions Location: Cary, NC 27518 Type: Direct Hire, Full-Time Hybrid/Remote: Hybrid flexibility (work at least 2 days per week in the Cary office) Salary: ~ +/- $115k—170k (Negotiable, DOE) Travel: Up to 50% (varies by project) About the Company: We are a global leader in providing technical, professional, and construction services, tackling some of the world’s most complex challenges. Position Overview: We are seeking an experienced Senior Electrical Engineer to join our Cary, NC office. This role offers a unique opportunity to lead electrical engineering design and consulting for complex power systems within the energy sector. You’ll have the chance to mentor junior engineers, lead project teams, engage with clients, and drive business development for the growing energy transition portfolio. Responsibilities: Engineering Leadership: Lead the electrical engineering design and consulting efforts for complex power systems across a variety of sectors, including power generation, renewable energy, and transmission & distribution networks. Client Engagement: Develop and maintain strong relationships with clients to understand their needs, propose innovative solutions, and ensure successful project delivery. Team Mentorship: Mentor junior and mid-level engineers, providing guidance, technical expertise, and professional development opportunities. Business Development: Participate in business growth strategy, contributing to the development of new project opportunities and expanding the company’s energy transition portfolio. Project Planning & Execution: Oversee the preparation of project proposals, including scope development, manhour estimates, and engineering service proposals. Ensure timely and efficient execution of projects. Technical Excellence: Perform power system modeling and analysis using industry-leading tools such as ETAP, SKM Power Tools, or similar software. Energy Solutions: Contribute to projects involving power distribution systems, microgrids, renewable energy, energy storage, and decarbonization planning. Required Qualifications: Bachelor’s or Advanced Degree in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Power Engineering, or a related discipline. At least 10 years of engineering design and/or consulting experience in electrical engineering, with a focus on power systems and energy solutions. Professional Engineering (PE) licensure in any U.S. state, or the ability to obtain licensure within 1 year. Proven ability to engage with clients and win work by delivering innovative solutions that provide value to both clients and providers. Experience with business development, including proposal development, project execution planning, and new technology integration. Strong communication and technical writing skills, with the ability to clearly convey complex technical concepts to clients and internal teams. Availability to travel up to 50%, depending on project needs. Ability to work at least 2 days per week in the Cary, NC office. Highly Regarded Qualifications: Experience with power distribution systems, microgrids, and HV/MV substations. Expertise in power generation projects, including solar, wind, hydro, and geothermal. Experience with energy storage systems, SCADA, and protection & control systems. Familiarity with power system modeling using software like SKM Power Tools, ETAP, PSS®E, or similar. Knowledge in renewable energy technologies, including solar, wind, and battery storage systems. Experience with decarbonization planning, climate response, and utility master planning. Why Join Us?
