The Team: GM’s Motorsports Software team analyzes, defines, and delivers next generation groundbreaking Motorsports IT software solutions. Using both innovative cloud-based infrastructure and software development standards, these solutions enable innovative interactions between GM Global Engineering, GM Motorsports, and our Race teams that accelerate our drivers to the finish line first! Our combined team of analysts, architects, developers, data engineers, testers, and project managers work with GM Motorsports Engineering and Race teams to ensure podium wins for GM’s NASCAR, IndyCar, and IMSA sportscar teams! The Role: We are seeking a Staff Engineer to take on the role of a technical leader, responsible for guiding the design and implementation of scalable, high-performance systems. This position demands extensive knowledge of architectural patterns, distributed systems, and emerging technologies to ensure that solutions are in line with corporate standards and the future architecture vision. In this role, you will provide strategic technical guidance, mentor fellow engineers, and cultivate a culture of innovation and excellence. Collaboration with cross-functional teams and stakeholders is crucial for delivering impactful, cost-effective solutions that enhance our platform's capabilities and improve business outcomes. What You'll Do (Responsibilities): Define and refine system design and architecture with a strong emphasis on scalability, non-functional requirements, and alignment with business objectives. Actively engage in coding, prototyping, and comprehensive code reviews, while enforcing best practices in clean coding and security. Mentor and guide engineers in modern design patterns, architectural best practices, and the pursuit of engineering excellence. Design and implement efficient data flows across applications to enhance performance and usability. Evaluate and integrate emerging technologies to boost engineering productivity and enhance system capabilities. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure technical solutions align with business objectives and effectively address technical challenges. Ensure platform stability and scalability by enforcing engineering standards and driving decisions related to the technical roadmap.
