About the Role
The Company is seeking a Vice President of Policy and Government Relations to lead its public policy strategy and implementation. This role is pivotal in advancing the organization's goals for systemic change, particularly in the areas of economic inclusion, safe and stable housing, early education, and youth and young adult pathways. The successful candidate will work closely with the President and Chief Executive Officer, manage a centralized approach to advocacy at all levels of government, and ensure that the public policy strategy aligns with the needs of the communities served. Key responsibilities include overseeing public policy priorities, coordinating outreach to elected and civic leaders, and mobilizing stakeholders to support the policy agenda. The VP will also be expected to maintain strong relationships with key officials, contribute to the development of policy reports and outreach materials, and supervise a team, including the Director of Public Policy. Applicants for the Vice President of Policy and Government Relations position at the company should have a bachelor's degree (master's preferred) and a minimum of 10 years' experience in public policy, human services, or related fields. A background in policy related to housing and homelessness is a plus. The role requires a deep understanding of the policy landscape in Massachusetts, the ability to build consensus and mobilize diverse stakeholders, and a commitment to the mission of the organization. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of contributing to the achievement of organizational goals, experience in supervising staff, and excellent communication skills. A strong knowledge of the communities within the service area and a demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion are essential. The VP must also be willing to register as a lobbyist in the State of Massachusetts and comply with all relevant requirements.
